What is electrical earthing?

“Electrical earthing is the process of transferring the immediate discharge of the electrical energy directly to the earth by the help of the low resistance wire”. Usually, electrical earthing is done by connecting the non-current carrying part of the equipment or neutral supply of the system to the ground.
Most of the time, galvanized iron is used on earth. A proper earthing provides a simple path to the leakage current. The short-circuit current of the equipment passes to the earth with zero potential. This protects the system and equipment from being damaged. There are many types of electrical earthing, but it is categorized into two parts:
* Neutral Earthing
* Equipment Earthing
In neutral earthing, the neutral of the system is directly connected to the earth with the help of a GI wire. This kind of earth is also called the system earthing. Such type of earthing is mostly provided to the system, which will have start winding. For example, in the generator, transformer, motor, etc.
The next is equipment earthing, which is mostly provided to the electrical equipment. The non-current carrying part of the equipment is connected to the earth with the help of a conducting wire. When any fault occurs in the apparatus, the short-circuit current to pass the earth with the help of the wire and in turn, protecting the system from damage.
